Omidyar Network is a philanthropic investment firm founded in 2004 by eBay founder Pierre Omidyar and his wife, Pam. Combining a foundation and an impact investment arm, it has committed over US$1.5 billion to both nonprofit and for-profit initiatives across a range of sectors.
London-based creative agency 20(SOMETHING) collaborated closely with the organisation’s core team to refresh the brand and visual system, aligning it with a renewed mission: to shape a digital future grounded in shared power, prosperity, and possibility.

At the heart of the visual identity system is a custom pattern generator, a tool that transforms real human interactions into dynamic, living visuals. This enables the brand to grow, shift, and adapt in real time, turning branding into something active and alive.
“We wanted to build a brand system that didn’t just reflect people – it responded to them. By using real human interaction as the input, we created a generative tool that transforms lived moments into dynamic brand expressions. It shifts branding away from static templates towards something more alive, more honest, and more connected to the people it represents. This was brought to life in close collaboration with @italiano.jpg.”
“A lot of identities in this sector are not well designed; they’re often created from people’s names. In the philanthropy category, Omidyar Network fell into the same bucket as everyone else, with corporate blues, safe greens, sterile greys, and a dated ‘on’ switch: a circle with a vertical line inside. It didn’t speak to the future vision.”
