Greed is a sans-serif typeface created by Prague-based type foundry Displaay. Originally commissioned for the Polansky Gallery in Prague by Anymade Studio, its name draws inspiration from a short fictional commercial titled 'Greed,' conceptualised by the French-Polish film director Roman Polanski in 2009 to promote a non-existent fragrance by Italian artist Francesco Vezzoli.

Information

From its initial sketch in January 2018 to the official release in September 2020, with subsequent updates in June 2023, Greed has evolved into a comprehensive typeface collection. The collection comprises five families, each offering six weights and twelve styles, resulting in a diverse range of 30 and 60 styles. These are represented by three variable font axes: Weight, Italic, and Width. Greed has various widths, ranging from condensed to extended. The glyphs showcase subtle and elegant curves, while the stroke contrast adds a distinctive character to its overall appearance. To enhance its personality, the italics are purposefully angled at 14°.

Displaay

Displaay, established in 2014, is an independent type foundry that specialises in creating retail and custom typefaces. The foundry's aim is to develop distinctive typefaces that are absent in the market. Continuously looking for empty spots in the fonts market, Displaay seeks good reasons to create new fonts with maximum responsibility. The ethos of the foundry is often inspired by specific moments of imperfection and spontaneous irregularities.
